Brown Hive

Euconulus fulvus. Little Onion Mountain, Babine Range, Bulkley-Nechako Regional District, BC (Forsyth collection 05.043.5767); width of shell: 3.0 mm.
In Canada, this species is perhaps one of the most widespread terrestrial gastropods, found in nearly all provinces and territories. Euconulus fulvus lives in mesic to somewhat xeric places, including deciduous, mixed and coniferous forests, at all elevations, and in open habitats as well, including around krummholz near the tree line in mountains. These snails find shelter in leaf litter and under vegetation, dead wood and stones.
